After the weldment is assembled, the pressure is applied through the electrode, and the resistance heat and large amount of plastic deformation energy generated by the current passing through the contact surface and adjacent area of the joint are used to make the two separated surfaces obtain a stable solid joint. This method of metal connection is called resistance welding.
